I was recently asked my opinion on what type of roof I’d recommend for a home. To me a roof is a roof is a roof … or is it? As an outdoor expert, I should know about the outside of the house, so it was time for me to do a little research. Here is what I found — and surprisingly it has more to do with the homeowners than the materials!
There are two types of homeowners when it comes to roofing.
The first type of homeowner creates magic by using the roof as a focal point. Whether it’s a great colour like reds and greens or even made from grass, there are all kinds of different materials available. The key to making a roof work as a focal point is to tie it into the elements of the home. One of the best ways is to match the roof colour to the door or the shutters. It makes the roof feel less like a separate entity and more like the icing on a fantastic cake.
